Biography

Dr Mahmoud Pargoo is a Research Fellow at Middle East Studies Forum at Alfred Deakin Institute (ADI). He is the author of Secularization of Islam in Post-Revolutionary Iran (Routledge, 2021), and co-author (with Prof. Shahram Akbarzadeh) of Presidential Elections in Iran: Islamic Idealism since the Revolution (Cambridge University Press, 2021).

Dr Pargoo has published in a variety of media outlets, including Al-Monitor, BBC, ABC, The Atlantic, Asia Times, and The Diplomat.

His working languages includes Persian, Turkish, Arabic, and English.
