Biography
Dr Mandy de Souza is a Research Fellow at Carbon Nexus in the field of carbon fibre composites, specialising in out-of-autoclave manufacturing and surface finish. She received her BEng (Hons) and PhD (Engineering) at Deakin University, before becoming a Research Fellow in 2009.
In 2019, Dr de Souza was awarded a Vice-Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Contribution to Industry and Employer Partnerships, a Vice-Chancellor's Award for Industry Engagement in Research in 2016 and a prestigious Victoria Fellowship for her work in surface finish in 2011.
She is currently a CI in the ARC Research Hub for Future Fibres and leads the manufacturing theme at Carbon Nexus. Dr de Souza’s other research interests include rapid curing resins, bonding of dissimilar materials and self-healing composites.
