Research interests

I completed my PhD in 2009, which investigated the effect of processing variables on the surface finish of painted carbon fibre composites in collaboration with Quickstep.

I have worked with Quickstep since 2003 and have led and worked on many successful industry research projects, including the $792k project with the Advanced Manufacturing CRC and Quickstep, and recently the AutoCRC project in collaboration with Futuris.

In 2011, I was awarded a Victoria Fellowship by the Victorian Government to visit leading automotive and composite, manufacturers and research institutes in Europe and the United States, and to establish new relationships and collaborations.

My other research interests include out-of-autoclave curing, rapid cure resin systems, epoxies, automotive composites, environmental aging of composites, paint adhesion, material characterisation and aerospace composites.

Awards

2011 Victoria Fellowship awarded by the Victorian Government

2006 Sri Banyopadhyay 3rd best student paper award at ACUN-5 conference.

2005 2nd best poster presentation at the 3rd National Steel Conference.

2004 Godfrey Hurst Engineering Award for highest grades received by a graduating honours student for the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree.

2003 Vice-Chancellor Award for the Phantom Engineering Project Team in the category of outstanding contribution to another area of the strategic plan 2003.
