I am a social and cultural geographer. My research focuses on ethnicity, ethno-religious diversity, indigeneity, whiteness, encounter and belonging in the city.

In 2011, Dr Lobo was awarded the prestigious Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Fellowship. She is conducting a pilot project titled, Exploring Intercultural Encounters in the Darwin-Palmerston Urban Area. The project focuses on multi-sensory experiences of meeting places.

In 2013, she was awarded two prestigious Australian Research Council Awards that focus on ethnic/ethno-religious diversity, political engagement and shared belongings in Western cities
