Biography

Monica is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Deakin University. Monica has been appointed as the Director of Simulation Education and Course Director Master of Nursing programs. Monica is a Registered Nurse who completed a PhD investigating the influence of a virtual simulated patients (www.vspr.net.au) on the development and implementation of non-technical skill in undergraduate nursing students. Monica has received national and university awards for her teaching. Monica has published a number of peer reviewed papers and chapters in edited books in acute and fundamental nursing practice. Monica has been successful in a number of grants supporting research in the area of clinical nursing practice and educational research including nurse education, simulation and non-technical skills.

Monica has extensive experience in undergraduate and post-graduate nursing and  midwifery education in Australia and internationally. Monica is an expert in the integration, design and facilitation of simulation based education in both intraprofessional and interprofessional contexts using various modalities.
