Biography

Dr Jansons is an exercise physiologist and clinical researcher recently appointed (July 2020) as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Deakin University. He also holds an honorary appointment with the Bone and Muscle Research Group, within the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, Monash University. Previously, he has been an exercise physiologist at Monash Health for >12 years and completed a part-time PhD at Monash University in November 2018. His clinical expertise focuses on the management of people with chronic conditions and has an emerging international reputation in this area. His original research has led to changes in practice via guideline development and invited narrative clinical reviews published in high-impact clinical journals.

Professional activities

Dr Jansons is a current member of a number of boards/committees including the Human Research Ethics Committee (Monash Health), Physiotherapy Research and Quality Portfolio (Monash Health), Allied Health Research Group (Monash Health), Bone and Muscle Group (Monash University), Monash Musculoskeletal Research Unit (Monash University) and ResPTlab-Respiratory Research Group (Monash University). Dr Jansons is an active member of Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA). He served as an Executive Director for the Victorian Chapter of ESSA (Professional Development Portfolio) between 2007 and 2012 where he advocated for government and industry funding for improvement and expansion of continual education opportunities.
