Biography summary
Saman A. Gorji received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Swinburne University of Technology in 2018. After completing his PhD, Saman worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the same university on an iMOVE CRC project.
From 2020 through 2022, Saman was a Research Fellow at the Queensland University of Technology, where he contributed to a number of projects funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and Future Energy Exports (FEnEx) CRC in collaboration with energy sector stakeholders.
Saman joined Deakin University in April 2022 as a Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering. Since then, he has focused on impact-oriented research translation in regional Australia, leveraging Deakin’s facilities to unlock the potential of renewable energy microgrids and working with several industry partners in the Greater Geelong Area.
From 2022 to 2023, Saman led the development of a REACH-funded short course on Renewable Energy Microgrid encompassing three micro-credentials: market and policy, green hydrogen, and standalone systems. These courses were developed based on industry needs, in collaboration with industry partners, for industry professionals.
In 2024, Saman embarked on his CSIRO International Hydrogen Research Fellowship in the UK and Denmark focused on building and maintaining partnerships between Australia and other global leaders in hydrogen energy.
