Dr Quanda Zhang (Samuel) is a Research Fellow in the Department of Economics at Deakin University. Samuel obtained his PhD in Economics from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University) in 2018. His research interests include Development Economics, Health and Labour Economics, Chinese Economy and Applied Microeconometrics. 

Samuel has published papers in journals such as The Journal of Development Studies and The B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics. His research has been featured by media such as World Economic Forum and Asia Times. He is the recipient of the 2016 RMIT Teaching Award and 2018 RMIT Research Award, annual prizes acknowledging academics who has demonstrated high level of excellence in their research and teaching activity.
