Biography summary

Dr Sarah Steen is a Lecturer in HRM in the Department of Management, Deakin Business School and Course Director of Bachelor of HRM (Psychology). She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, has received an Australasian award for Recognition of Excellence and Contribution to Student Learning (PASS), and received a Vice Chancellor’s award for her honours thesis on Questioning the Value of Usefulness of Student Evaluation of Teaching. Sarah is an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated university educator with a proven twelve-year track record of outstanding teaching excellence with extensive undergraduate and postgraduate experience.

Sarah’s PhD investigated employees’ environmental behaviours within the banking industry and she has experience with quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research study designs. She has developed an ebook, an Open Educational Resource called Workplace Role-Play Scenarios: Practise Navigating Difficult Conversations, Negotiation and Mediation and was a grant recipient in the 2022 Student as Partners program. She has held student and staff leadership and mentoring roles in the Master of Leadership as a research project supervisor, as a Teaching and Learning mentor for new academic staff, as an MBA coach and chair and panel member of the Faculty of Business and Law Academic Progress Committee.
