Biography

Dr Surabhi Pancholi is an academician and distinguished researcher with international recognition and impact in the field of architecture, urban design, urban planning and place making. Her research specialisation lies in multi-dimensional place making, design principles, strategies and planning processes of smart cities and innovation districts and application of digital technologies for place making in architectural and urban environments. She advocates the adoption of a multi-disciplinary perspective and an integrated approach for making innovative and connected cities, clusters and spaces that are environmentally sustainable, institutionally collaborated, economically resilient and socio-culturally rich.

In her current role, she leads the course of Master of Landscape Architecture as  Course Director at School of Architecture and Built Environment at Deakin University. In her current research roles, she leads the research theme for Smart Rural + Urban Communities in Live + Smart Research Lab at School of A+B and is also actively involved into digital placemaking projects led by MindLab in Deakin. She has been actively involved in leading the collaborative research projects and devising place making strategies for Smart Cities in Australia, Brazil and India. 

She has a successful record of publishing in highly-ranked and reputed international journals in the field of urban design and planning. She has been actively contributing to networking and collaboration at local and international levels by research work, joint research publications, presenting in research conferences and seminars. Most recently in 2019, she was invited as a key panelist and speaker at International Knowledge Cities World Summit held at Florianópolis, Brazil.  

In her previous roles, as architect and urban planner, worked on a range of prestigious commercial, residential, institutional and government projects- nationally and internationally.
