Biography

Dr Wei Opie is a Lecturer in the Department of Finance in Deakin Business School. Wei completed her Bachelor's degree in Commerce and PhD from the University of Melbourne. Her PhD work investigates currency risk management for global stock portfolios. The research proposes a portfolio-based dynamic hedging strategy that is more effective at reducing portfolio risk than the static strategies commonly adopted by fund managers.  Wei's ongoing research projects in this area consider return generation as an additional hedging objective of investors and incorporate the latest findings in the area of currency research. Wei also works in the area of corporate governance, firm investment efficiency, funds allocations, and institutional holdings, and has interest in the broad area of corporate finance.
