Biography

I am an anthropologist and human geographer whose research is focused on human-forest interfaces, the social dimensions of agricultural production, the politics of indigenous knowledge and critical approaches to disaster management in both Australia and upland Southeast Asia. My doctoral research explored indigenous Pala’wan experiences with climate change in the Philippines. This work and my ongoing research has focused, in particular, on the governance of swidden cultivation in forested landscapes. Currently, I am a member of a project exploring collaborations between indigenous people and the natural hazard sector across southern Australia.
