Bennettswood Reserve carpark closure, Burwood Highway and Highbury Road lane closures - Burwood
Starts 18/03/2024, finishes 30/09/2024Starts Monday 18 March 2024, finishes Monday 30 September 2024. 
Changed traffic conditions and access closures are planned for Bennettswood Reserve carpark, Burwood Highway and Highbury Road, as follows:
- Bennettswood Reserve southern carpark closure (near Entrance 1), impacting 30 car spaces, from Monday 18 March for up to six months. 
- Burwood Highway eastbound lane closures, from Elgar Road to Holland Avenue, from late March for up to six months.
- Access to Holland Avenue will be maintained at all times. 
- No impacts to the 75 tram service.
- Pedestrian detours along Burwood Highway (northern footpath), within Gardiners Creek Trail. 
- Highbury Road lane closures from April for up to two months. 
These adjustments are required for works as a part of the ongoing Suburban Rail Loop project.

Sir Charles Hotham Hotel - Wall structure works - Waterfront
Starts 18/03/2024, finishes 31/05/2024Structural works on the north wall of Sir Charles Hotham Hotel, adjoining the open-air car park (CP3), will be commencing on Monday 18 March with completion expected by the end of May.  
These works are taking place to remove the temporary wall supports and reinstate permanent structural integrity. 
Some noise is expected during this time and a small number of car parking spaces in CP3 will be reserved for contractors however, the works are not expected to be overly disruptive.

Geelong Convention and Events Centre (GCEC) - Construction update - Waterfront
Starts 22/08/2023, finishes 31/12/2026The Nyaal Banyul GCEC precinct will include the construction of the purpose-built convention and exhibition space, incorporating a 1000 seat venue, two large exhibition spaces, meeting rooms, conference facilities and flexible event spaces. 
As this precinct is in such close proximity to the Waterfront Campus, we will be providing monthly updates on construction works.
March 2024
- Large equipment is scheduled to be installed on Saturday 16 March and Sunday 17 March 2024. However, if the weather prevents installation, works will be delayed to the following weekend. 
- The City of Greater Geelong (CoGG) has approved extended operating hours from 7am to 7pm on both days. 
- There will be no vehicle access to Smythe St on these dates, and a small mobile crane will be used to facilitate installation.
- No vehicle access to the Multideck Carpark (CP2) and the open-air car park (CP3) on these dates. Assistance will be provided for users of the car parks to exit, if required, but no entry will be permitted. 
- The small mobile crane will be left in place overnight on Saturday 16 March, but no work will occur overnight. 
- Traffic management will direct traffic, and residents will be able to access their homes with a safety escort. 
Operating hours
Standard site operating hours are as follows:
- Monday to Friday 7am-7pm
- Saturday 8am-3pm
- Sunday (as required via permit application and approval)
Please note construction may occasionally extend beyond operating hours due to unforeseen circumstances, with approval from CoGG and authorities.

Smythe Street, Multideck Carpark and Car Park 3 Access Closures - Waterfront
Starts 28/02/2024, finishes 31/12/2024Changed traffic conditions and access closures are planned for Smythe Street, adjacent to the Waterfront Campus, as follows:
- No vehicle access to Smythe Street on between 16-17 March and on 13 April. This will result in no vehicle access to the Multideck Carpark (CP2) and the open-air car park (CP3) on these dates. Assistance will be provided for users of the car parks to exit, if required, but no entry will be permitted. 
- The underground carpark (CP1) via Brougham Street, will be available for staff and students between 7am and 10pm, as alternative parking.  Orange bays can be utilised by all VPermit and CellOPark users on this occasion. 
- Smythe Street to become a one-way street, with vehicles to enter Smythe Street from Cavendish Street only, from Wednesday 13 March. This will be in place for approx. 18 months. 
- Signage and barrier installation for the changed traffic conditions will commence on Monday 4 March.
- Pedestrian access to our car parks from Brougham Street will remain. 
Traffic management will be in place to assist vehicles to detour. 
These adjustments are required for construction works as part of the ongoing Geelong Convention and Event Centre (GCEC) project.

Costa Hall Entry - Waterfront
Starts 28/02/2024, finishes 31/07/2024We are creating a welcoming and inclusive arrival experience at Costa Hall, giving the iconic auditorium an inspiring and distinctive new entry point. 
Located just next to the existing Costa Hall entry on Gheringhap Street, the impressive new entry will be highly visible from the street and will provide an accessible entrance with improved signage while remaining respectful to the heritage of the existing building, which is a converted 19th-century wool store.
Expected construction timeline: March - July 2024 
Status of Project: Delivery
Location: Waterfront Campus, Building D, Level 2 (ground level).
Project inclusions
- Wheelchair-accessible entry to the Waterfront Campus located next to the existing entry on Gheringhap Street
- Highly visible and easily identifiable entry point to Costa Hall which is welcoming and inspiring
- Enhanced foyer space that allows for the movement and gathering of large groups of people
- New lighting system and controls
- New signage and event promotion opportunities
- External paving.
Work components 
- Site establishment in Building D and set up of site amenities (site shed, contractor amenities, site bin, and unloading zone) in Car Park 3.
- Installation of site safety and project promotion signage
- Demolition works
- Structural works - slab pour, structural steel, concrete steps
- Main works - stud wall, timber refinishing, rough-in services, fire roller door installation, plaster and painting
- Installation of platform lift
- Indoor plant
- Fit off services
- Fixtures and finishes - windows and glazed doors, joinery and handrails, acoustic panels
- Defects and final handover
Construction impacts 
- Access changes, including altered pathway access externally
- Noise impacts to surrounding areas, including on Level 2 (teaching spaces D2.330,  D2.194 and D2,193) and Level 3 (workspace D3.322)
- Contractor presence in and around Building D
- Loss of approx. 11 parking spaces in Car Park 3 due to site amenities

Feed extrusion project - NK1.300, Building NK - Waurn Ponds
Starts 22/01/2024, finishes 31/05/2024Construction of a Feed Extrusion Laboratory is scheduled to commence in Building NK, Level 1 (NK1.300) from Monday 22 January until the end of May. This project is part of AquAFI, a VHESIF project, and will enable teaching and research activities to take place in NK1.300. 
During this time you can expect:
- General construction noise,
- Contractors moving throughout the building, and 
- Building service interruptions at specific times.

Multiple Buildings - Sculpture Installations - Burwood
Starts 05/12/2023, finishes 31/03/2024The installation of several sculptures will be taking place at several locations across the Burwood Campus and Deakin Downtown, commencing Wednesday 6 December, with completion expected by early 2024. Locations are as follows:  
Burwood Campus 
- Building B, Level 1 foyer to the dance studio 
- Building BC, Level 2 reception of BCC and at the end of the corridor between BC2.111 and BC2.112 
- Building I, Level 2 foyer
- Building LC, Level 1, opposite the café, to the right of the painting in the lounge area, and in the Level 6 foyer  
- Building M, Levels 1, 2 and 3 near the elevators  
- Building U, Level 1  
- Building W, stairwell  
- Several outdoor locations adjacent to Buildings B, BC, FA, LA, P and X, and the outdoor food court.
Deakin Downtown  
- In the anteroom to the Executive Board Room.  
- Corridor outside CS2.12.108
A professional art installer will be on-site at these locations, and there may be some associated impacts involved for some installations, so please expect possible intermittent noise and access changes, however, we are not anticipating these works to be overly disruptive.
