Content

The Deakin Law Clinic provides pro bono legal advice and/or assistance to a variety of clients, including individuals, organisations, and start-up businesses.  Deakin Law Clinic allow students to assist clients from initial client interviews, to drafting letters of advice and draft key legal documents (Court Applications, Client-focussed documents, correspondence with third parties). Students undertake legal analysis and problem solving for real individual and business needs.  Students gain first-hand experience under the supervision of the unit supervisor and experienced legal practitioners, getting the opportunity to deepen and critically reflect upon their substantive legal knowledge while developing critical professional skills through direct representation and policy work.  Students apply to the Deakin Law Clinic unit, and may be placed in a variety of clinical practice areas, including employment, civil, family, criminal and venture law.  Students will be able to register for the unit by campus.
