Students will on average spend 150-hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.
1 x 2-hour seminar per week (recordings provided)
The unit begins by examining a range of theoretical approaches to international political economy (neo-liberalism, neo-mercantilism, and neo-Marxism), then examines the post-war history of the world economy, and concludes with an examination of contemporary issues and problems such as trade, debt, class, regional economies and organisations including ASEAN and APEC and transnational corporations.
Develop an understanding of how the global political economy works. They will also be proficient in recognising, and critically assessing, all of the analytical languages used to describe and explain it

Critically assess arguments from a number of sources in order to make an independent evaluation of the questions posed by the unit and to construct convincing arguments that are systematic, logically coherent and evidence based

Apply the conventions of academic communication (written, verbal and online), as reflected in clear and accessible writing and presentation as well as professional conduct in group settings (either online or face-to-face)
