Project Management is undoubtedly one of the most important skills in management as modern organisations shift from traditional management to project-based management. This unit examines project management in the exciting, dynamic, innovative, virtual, information enabled, and knowledge intensive organisational environment. Consequently, this unit emphasises skills as well as techniques that can be derived from traditional and Agile project management and explores innovations relevant for the successful management of projects. It also investigates the task of managing project knowledge which is regarded as a central skill for managing future projects. The project management methodologies taught in this unit are based on Agile Project Management and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK). Aspects covered in this unit include: overviews of project management; the Agile philosophy; planning processes; project communication; human and social aspects of project management; procurement tools; techniques and enabling technologies.
