Students will on average spend 150-hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.
1 x 1-hour class per week, 1 x 2-hour seminar per week
1 x 1-hour class (recordings provided) per week, 1 x 2-hour online seminar per week
Online teaching methods require internet access. For Cloud (online) mode, use of Blackboard Collaborate is required for assessable work and requires a high speed broadband connection
This unit extends students' appreciation and use of formal and informal styles of Indonesian, through the study of spoken language through dialogues and formal language in written texts. This unit expands students’ exposure to key aspects of Indonesian grammar and provides opportunities for them to be used. Insights into Indonesian culture, including aspects of religion, history and the notion of national and regional identities will also be explored.
Critically apply key grammatical constructions in formal Indonesian writing

Communicate orally in Indonesian using various constructions, including some complex structures
Evaluate the cultural dimenions of Indonesian language use and critically reflect on how these influence communication in a range of diverse contexts
