Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.
1 x 3 hour seminar per week
Online independent and collaborative learning including 11 scheduled online workshops of 1 hour duration.
Note: From Trimester 2 2019: students who complete this unit will meet the new accreditation requirements of the Financial Standards Authority (FAS).
As a requirement of International Education Standard 4 released by the International Federation of Accountants, the unit develops students' appreciation of ethics and their ability to evaluate and apply ethical principles in the decision-making process in accounting, financial planning and finance. Topics covered include: the nature of ethics; personal and organisational ethical factors; ethical theories and principles applicable to finance professionals; ethical decision-making models; ethical issues and conflicts of interest in the financial services industry; professional codes of ethics and workplace ethics; corporate social responsibility; and principles of corporate governance.
