Online independent and collaborative learning including 5 x 1 hour online seminars per trimester.

Typical study commitment:	Students will on average spend between 112-160 hours over the trimester undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit. This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.
Note: Students can apply for placement approval throughout the year. However, enrolment into a specific trimester after week 1 is subject to Unit Chair approval. Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Design (Architecture) S342 may require the industry induction 'White' Card. Note also that delays in completing the placement could mean that the course will take longer to complete than the stated duration. Attendance at the placement may be required outside the trimester dates. In preparation for the placement, students are required to complete the Placement Preparation Module (PPM) before commencing their professional experience (placement). Content

This Work Integrated Learning (WIL) unit is framed around short term, 112 -160 hour (4 – 12 Weeks) placements. It provides students the opportunity to work collegially in discipline relevant organisations and roles to build work ready pre-professional capabilities. The focus is on enhancing broad employability skills within a discipline specific knowledge and skills development framework. Approved placements must involve projects and other duties in workplaces offering experiences aligned with the discipline in which the student is enrolled.
Students use their placement for contextually integrated career development learning. In reporting on their experiences, students demonstrate how the placement experience has provided an applied form of learning: In particular, the preparation and potentializing of their work ready skills for the next stage of study and work.

Through a combination of preparatory classes and a work placement, students will develop generic, employability skills that prepares them for work, and a career in their chosen fields.

Unit Fee Information

Fees and charges vary depending on the type of fee place you hold, your course, your commencement year, the units you choose to study and their study discipline, and your study load.

Tuition fees increase at the beginning of each calendar year and all fees quoted are in Australian dollars ($AUD). Tuition fees do not include textbooks, computer equipment or software, other equipment or costs such as mandatory checks, travel and stationery.
