Content
This unit provides students with an appreciation of formal and informal styles of Indonesian. The significance of variations in vocabularies and grammatical structures will be explored. Students will study the use of spoken language primarily through dialogues and apply that knowledge in discussion. Formal styles of language common in writing are also introduced, across a range of topics. Key aspects of Indonesian grammar will be explored, in particular the use of affixes. Relevant aspects of cultural context and sociolinguistic features that influence communication and the choice of language style will also be introduced.
