Eligibility criteria
Prospective candidates should ensure they meet all criteria before submitting their application.
To be eligible you must be:
- a domestic student
- enrolled full time in the Master of Dietetics at Deakin University in Trimester 2 2020
- undertaking your hospital placement in a rural or remote location in 2020
- able to demonstrate financial disadvantage, you receive a means-tested Centrelink benefit or have a personal or combined family taxable income below $56,000, depending on independence status.
Preference will be given to:
- students who are attending a rural or regional placement which is recognised for servicing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations.
Conditions
As a scholarship recipient you:
- are required to provide a 500-word report with at least one paragraph for publication on the rural placement experience
- present the report to Rotary club members if requested by the donor.

What happens next?
Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the details you provide and your supporting documentation. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Candidates who have been successful previously are not eligible to apply again.
You'll find out if you were successful usually within four weeks of the application closing date. You can see the status of your application via your Course and Scholarship Applicant Portal account.

Rotary District 9780, through The Rotary Foundation, has made available $8,000 to support four students experiencing financial hardship when completing the requirements of their Master of Dietetics rural placements at Deakin University.
District 9780 covers much of western Victoria and south-east South Australia and comprises 59 Rotary Clubs dedicated to improving the quality of life of people in their communities.
Rotary District 9780 have created 4 scholarships to support Master of Dietetics students undertaking a clinical placement in a rural or remote location.
