If your financial situation is holding you back from continuing a Bachelor of Engineering at Deakin's Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus, the Christopher Morton Memorial Scholarship could make a difference.

Applications for Trimester 1 2020 open 15 January 2020.

Applications for Trimester 1 2020 close 16 March 2020 5pm.


$1500 one-off payment.

Eligibility criteria

All Deakin University scholarships have eligibility criteria.

Prospective candidates should ensure they meet all criteria before submitting their application.

To be eligible you must be:

  • a domestic student
  • a second-year student enrolled full time in a Bachelor of Engineering degree* at Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus in Trimester 1 2020
  • able to show you receive a means-tested Centrelink benefit or have a personal or combined family taxable income below $56 000, depending on independence status.

*Preference will be given to students enrolled in the Civil stream.


As a scholarship recipient you must:

  • complete an impact statement at the end of the scholarship year and
  • provide an introductory statement about your goals for study and what it means to receive the scholarship.

Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the details you provide and your supporting documentation.

You'll find out if you were successful usually within six weeks of the application closing date. You can see the status of your application via your Course and Scholarship Applicant Portal account.
