Undergraduate

Undergraduate (your first degree)

An undergraduate degree is generally completed between two to four years, depending on the pattern of study and any recognition of prior learning you may have. Associate degrees, bachelor and bachelor with honours are all undergraduate degrees.

Research

Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)

Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

Career opportunities

Graduates of this course will have the knowledge and skills highly sought after by engineering and construction companies, manufacturers, land developers, government and consulting firms.

You will be well prepared to address global environmental issues such as climate change, sustainability, waste disposal and recycling, public health as well as pollution and contamination. Potential positions include:

  • environmental engineer
  • environmental consultant
  • environment officer
  • environment planner
  • landfill specialist
  • water specialist.

Professional industry experience

In our undergraduate course, you will undertake at least 60 days of practical work experience in an engineering organisation. This will enable you to enhance your skills and understanding of environmental engineering and develop valuable professional networks before you graduate.

Learn in the field

Participate in off-site activities that will give you hands-on, practical experience on projects similar to those tackled by professional engineers. You will also have an opportunity to undertake an international engineering study tour, engaging in project work overseas while gaining a global understanding of environmental engineering.

Study environmental engineering

Our environmental engineering students discuss their learning journey and how they are helping to design sustainable solutions to environmental problems.
