Industry connections

At Deakin, students have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, make lifelong international connections and add value to their degree through one of our many international experiences.

Global experiences include in-country language programs, a trimester of study at an overseas university exchange partner, an international internship or an approved short term study abroad program or study tour.

Onshore opportunities also exist for students who wish to undertake international experience locally. Students can learn a language or participate in an approved onshore internship with an international organisation.

Relevant and rewarding research

Undertaking a study in international studies also provides vast opportunities in research including:

  • research in politics
  • IR
  • ADI
  • research on experiential learning.

The international experience I undertook at Deakin has been so beneficial for me professionally, socially and personally. I lived in a rural village in South India for a month as part of my internship, building social enterprises with Australian organisation 40K.
