Study a Bachelor of International Studies
Develop a systematic understanding of the international forces shaping the world today. With Deakin’s Bachelor of International Studies, you can combine internationally focussed experiences with your studies in preparation for a global career.
A degree that can take you anywhere
With the Bachelor of International Studies, you can gain first-hand experiences in other countries and cultures that help you develop the practical and soft skills required to pursue a global career. You might see yourself studying at an overseas university, mastering a new language through an in-country language program or working in a rural village as part of an international internship.
At Deakin, students have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, make lifelong international connections and add value to their degree through one of our many international experiences.
Global experiences include in-country language programs, a trimester of study at an overseas university exchange partner, an international internship or an approved short-term study abroad program or study tour.
Onshore opportunities also exist for students who wish to undertake international experience locally. Students can learn a language or participate in an approved onshore internship with an international organisation.
Relevant and rewarding research
Undertaking a study in international studies provides vast opportunities in research including research in politics, international relations and research on experiential learning.
The international experience I undertook at Deakin has been so beneficial for me professionally, socially and personally. I lived in a rural village in South India for a month as part of my internship, building social enterprises with Australian organisation 40K.
