Engagement and impact

We create value from knowledge and ideas that inform policy and practice to provide real outcomes for people.

A strategic opportunity –
to address some of the most compelling and complex challenges of the 21st century

At Deakin, we pride ourselves on a reputation for delivering translational research that makes an impact on industry, society and the wider community.

To strengthen our commitment to the pursuit of excellence in the generation of new knowledge that moves the world forward and improves value, equity and impact in health and care, we have established a number of key strategies across the areas of engagement, capacity building, knowledge translation and research impact..

The Institute collaborates extensively with national and international academic partners, governments, funders, NGOs, businesses, not-for-profits, health services, care providers and patients to drive practice change in urban, rural and regional areas. To the policy system, we deliver a strong voice on matters of importance. To the public, we bring an enhanced focus on impact at scale.

Read more about the impact of our research in our 2018 Annual Report.

As the sector seeks to address the high burden of chronic disease in our ageing population, Deakin is well placed to play a significant role in the major reforms likely to affect health and care over the next decade
