Develop your advocacy skills with legal professionals
The Alfred Deakin ICA Moot provides law students from Australia and overseas with the opportunity to develop practical skills, and engage with international commercial law and arbitration. By participating in the moot, students can develop their advocacy skills and engage with experienced legal professionals, allowing them to expand their knowledge and network with potential future colleagues.

Structure of the 2023 Alfred Deakin ICA Moot
The competition will take place on a virtual platform in September 2023.
The moot will be run virtually via the online platform Zoom over four days, on 4, 5, 11 and 12 September 2023. Each team will compete in two preliminary rounds during the first two days, once as claimant and once as respondent. The elimination rounds, quarterfinals and semi-finals will take place on days three and four.
The rounds will be judged by legal practitioners who have competed in the Vis Moot or similar moots, who practice in the field or are academics with an interest in this area of law. Participants will receive feedback from the arbitrators after each round in the interest of skill development.
Members of the winning team will share in a prize of gift vouchers totalling AUD $1000.
Who can enter?
Each law school or law student society can enter a maximum of two teams of two or three participants. All participants must be current LLB or JD students.
Supporters and onlookers are welcome to view the grand final.
