Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus accommodation

From Trimester 1, 2021, around 1070 students will call Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus home. Just a short drive away from the scenic surf coast and Great Ocean Road, and 15 minutes from Geelong's CBD – our campus is the perfect place to have a unique university experience.

Accommodation expansion

A new 320-bed precinct is coming to Waurn Ponds ready for Trimester 1, 2021. This new student accommodation expansion will offer a contemporary, affordable, high-quality living experience for students.

The new precinct features 32 two-level townhouses, each housing 10 occupants. Each resident will have a fully-furnished private bedroom, plus usage of a light-filled communal kitchen, dining and living spaces and shared bathroom facilities. To create a real sense of community and connectedness, a centralised administration building, town hall and village green will be built for student use.

This expansion will ensure that applications from students in local areas (including Geelong and metro Melbourne) will now be considered. There will be single gender and quiet housing options on offer for students, should they prefer. We anticipate that this new precinct will be popular, so students are encouraged to apply early to maximise their chances of receiving an offer.

Applications now open.

Which is the right room for me?

This is purely a personal decision. As a general rule, shared accommodation options are more social. You use the same kitchen, lounge and dining area as the other students in your unit, which ensures you will interact with your peers.

Self-contained apartments allow you to cook in your own kitchenette and watch TV in seclusion. But there are also communal kitchens and breakout areas in the main buildings so you can study and relax with your fellow residents.

Shared spaces, shared lifestyle

Living on campus at Geelong Waurn Ponds means you’ll have lots of places to study, enjoy a break, or catch-up with friends. Some of the shared spaces include:

  • large recreation rooms with a fully equipped kitchen, seating area, pool tables, air hockey and table tennis
  • theatre room
  • study rooms
  • outdoor BBQ areas and terraces
  • outdoor half-size basketball court
  • outdoor community garden.

There's also a wide range of resources available for hire from reception, including board games, sporting equipment and whiteboards for studying.
