My research and supervision interests meet at the intersection of the sociologies of education and youth. They include the production of the global citizen and graduate within schools and universities; and the geographies and temporalities of young people’s present lives and imagined futures in critical and precarious times and places. My research draws on poststructuralist perspectives to critically analyse these issues and to deepen understanding and inform policy and practice within education and other sectors.

I have held Visiting Scholar roles at a number of international universities. I have been funded to present keynote addresses at national conferences and invited to review for Australian and international journals and grant applications. I have also appeared in the media in relation to my research.

My most recent books with colleagues are Rethinking Youth Citizenship after the Age of Entitlement, Imagining Youth Futures: University Students in Post-Truth Times and Young People in Digital Society: Control Shift. My many other publications have appeared in numerous edited books, high-ranking journals and monographs.

I am available to supervise Higher Degree Research students as well as students undertaking Research Pathways units.
