Forensic Detective Program

Our Forensic Detective Program provides an opportunity for students to participate in an interactive workshop. Students visit Deakin's innovative Crime Scene House, our forensic training facility used to teach forensic science students.

Program focus

This program is designed for Year 9 and 10 students who have an opportunity to explore forensic science as a possible career choice.

Students actively participate in a three-hour workshop, which takes place in our Crime Scene House and science laboratories, giving students the chance to work in a real life setting. Activities completed by students are related to entomology, fingerprinting, pollen, hair and fibre analysis as well as chemistry, blood and DNA analysis.

2020 program

With the COVID-19 situation rapidly evolving, the safety and wellbeing of our community remains our top priority. Unfortunately this means that we have decided to cancel this year's Forensic Detective Program. This decision has not been made lightly and we apologise for any inconvenience.

We are exploring alternative ways to engage with your students and will keep you updated should we be in a position to offer the program later in the year. Thank you for your support and we hope to see the program return in 2021.
