Learn from recent terror attacks and how to build a more secure society at this conference and networking event.

Event details

There has been a significant increase in the risk of terrorist attacks in recent years in several countries. Australia is no exception: from the Lindt Café siege, to the recently thwarted plans for attacking planes in Sydney, the country has experienced its share of terrorist incidents, and the threat remains real. This conference, organised by Deakin University, will bring together domestic and international experts to discuss the ways in which Australia has responded to terrorism and lessons to be learned from comparisons with responses to attacks in other countries. It will also examine institutional and legal reforms that may be necessary to enhance our ability to prevent and respond to future attacks.

Speakers will include:

  • Prof James Forest, University of Massachusetts
  • Dr Levi West
  • Dr Ali Khadem
  • Maria Panos, Henry Davis York
  • Michael Sullivan, Henry Davis York
