Business Consulting Clinic

What is Business Consulting Clinic Experience?

The Deakin Business Consulting Clinic is a hands-on small-business consulting, Work Integrated Learning (WIL), program that will provide you with real-world consulting and advisory experience.

Get out of the lecture theatre and develop your analytical skills whilst working in a team to apply a proven business framework (developed by industry professionals) to an actual small-to-medium enterprise. Use the framework to identify an opportunity, develop an implementable solution and present this recommendation through a presentation-pitch and project-brief to your client.

Throughout the program, you will participate in several industry-lead workshops at Deakin Downtown in the Melbourne CBD and have the opportunity to directly apply workshop skills and learnings to your project-brief and client-interactions.

Who can apply?

This program is available to undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Faculty of Business and Law, who will take the experience under the following units:

It is your responsibility to ensure that taking a WIL unit contributes towards your course requirements, and will not prevent you from meeting your course rules. Please speak with a Student Adviser if you are unsure; you can contact them on or (03) 9244 6555.

Important information

This unit has compulsory attendance requirements - students will be required to attend each scheduled class on-campus across Deakin Downtown  for a full day per session (8 hours). This is a strict requirement of the unit, and non-attendance without prior approval will impact on unit completion requirements.

Please note: In replicating a work environment, this unit requires students to conduct themselves in a professional manner, including wearing business attire and exhibiting appropriate workplace behaviours.

How to apply

Please note that entry into this unit is by competitive application only – you must submit an application to be considered. The unit is locked and cannot be added on StudentConnect.
