When will the conference take place?

The 2020 Faculty of Health conference will take place on Friday, the 12th of February 2021. The program will commence at 9:00 am run through to 4:00 pm, with a networking event to take place immediately following the conclusion of the conference.

Where will the conference take place?

Due to the current pandemic we are planning for a virtual conference. However, we will endeavour to provide an on-campus venue and networking event if restrictions allow.

What is the registration fee and how do I register to attend the conference?

Registration is completely free. You can register via Eventbrite to attend the conference
Registrations will close on 8th January 2021.

How will COVID-19 impact the conference?

DUHRS will abide by the government restrictions at the time of the conference. Given the uncertainty regarding how many people can gather in doors, we are currently planning a virtual conference. However, we hope to provide an on-campus event if restrictions allow. In our new ‘COVID-normal’, we will work with Deakin to ensure that maximum capacity of people per room is met, along with making sure it is a safe environment for all our participants. Your health and safety are our utmost priority.

Who is able to register for the event?

The conference is open to all Faculty of Health HDR students and staff. Please note that student attendance will be prioritised over staff in the event that the conference exceeds our potential venue capacity.

Are there opportunities to present my work at the conference?

Yes. Students can apply to present their work as an oral presentation or a poster. To apply, please follow the link to the abstract submission page and carefully read through the abstract submission guidelines before submitting.

How do I submit an abstract and when is the deadline?

You can submit your abstract via this QUALTRICS form. Abstract submissions close on Friday, the 6th of November 2020.

When will the outcomes of abstract reviews be released?

Outcomes of abstract reviews will be released early-to-mid December, 2020.

How do I register for workshops?

The DUHRS committee is currently finalising the workshop program. Further information will be provided.

What do I do if I have special dietary requirements?

The DUHRS committee will provide an option to add dietary requirements on the registration form.

Will I be provided with a physical copy of the conference program on the day?

A paperless conference; a conscious choice. There will be limited printed materials provided at the DUHRS conference. All materials, such as the program, abstracts and workshop descriptions, will be provided electronically via this website.

Will the conference be accessible online?

Yes. Given current government guidelines, we are planning to provide a virtual conference at this time.
