Chemical Weapons Convention

Chemicals scheduled under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) are tightly controlled by the federal government.

Chemicals associated with Weapons of Mass Destruction have been scheduled by an international treaty called the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Research and development activities are included in the Convention. Further details are contained in the Chemical Weapons Convention: A Guide for Australian Industry Producing, Using or Trading Chemicals including the list of chemicals covered.

To use or store chemicals associated with Weapons of Mass Destruction in a workplace, you must meet the requirements of the Guide and keep these chemical under special security arrangements. You must consider reducing the opportunity for theft or other illegal behavior with further security measures such as inventory tracking systems.
