8692 Deakin Students surveyed told us about their experience.

83% thought the overall QUALITY of their education experience at Deakin was 'good' or 'excellent'.

Compared to other universities, Deakin performs really well:

  • 83% Teaching Quality (81% national).
  • 77% Student Support (73% national).
  • 83% Skills Development (81% national).
  • 91% Learning Resources (85% national).
  • 61% Learner Engagement (63% national).

Deakin was first in Victoria for Overall Satisfaction.

Student Satisfaction with Learning Engagement was low.

Deakin is responding with a student engagement plan, including 'Get Cloud Campus Ready'.

19% of students indicated they had considered leaving Deakin, especially for health or stress related reasons. So we have taken action by developing an eWellbeing Platform and providing access to health coaches.

Having your feedback allows us to understand how we are contributing to students' experiences, identify areas of good practice and areas that we need to improve on.

Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT)

2016 SES Student Experience Survey Highlights

The SES is an annual national survey of FIRST and LATER year undergraduate and postgraduate students conducted at Australian Universities and other providers

6557 Deakin Students surveyed told us about their experience

One in five students indicated their study is all or nearly all online. This is higher compared to most institutions

84% thought the overall QUALITY of their education experience at Deakin was 'good' or 'excellent'.

Student Satisfaction

Compared to other universities, Deakin performs really well;

  • 83% Skills Development (81% national).
  • 61% Learner Engagement (62% national).
  • 84% Teaching Qualities (81% national).
  • 78% Student Support (72% national).
  • 92% Learning Resources (85% national).

Deakin was 1st in Victoria across five focus areas.

However, some issues were identified that need attention.

Online students are less positive with their experience and engagement.

So we are putting more effort into improving this with a number of projects (Student Learning and Experience Plan 2016-2020).

17% had seriously considered leaving

43% of these students claimed health or stress as their reason

So we are working on more/new initiatives to improve support available to students.

Having your feedback allows us to understand how we are contributing to students' experiences, identify areas of good practice and areas that we need to improve on.
