Use Microsoft Office software

Deakin's Office 365 can be accessed via www.deakin.edu.au/office365.

Students and staff can get Microsoft Office on their desktop for free.

Download software to your computer

A wide range of software is available for you to download and install. Note that some items can only be used on Deakin workstations.

  • Students and Staff on your own computer – Browse the Software Library
  • Staff on a Deakin Windows PC – Click Start > All Programs > 'Software Center'.
  • Staff on a Deakin Apple Mac – Click the 'Self Service' icon in the dock.

Software can be requested for installation on Deakin University workstations for both teaching and learning and work related use at any time throughout the year.

Apps and Desktops Anywhere (ADA)

Apps and Desktops Anywhere (otherwise referred to as ADA) allows students & staff to emulate academic software on their Deakin-managed machines, or home devices.

For more information on services offered by ADA, refer to the guide below.

Free software training online

All Deakin students and staff have free access to LinkedIn.com/Learning — an online education resource offering video courses in software, creative, and business skills.

There are more than 6,400 courses available for learners of all levels on LinkedIn Learning, and more are added every week. You can even save courses to view offline, later, on your mobile device.

To log in to LinkedIn Learning, go to www.LinkedIn.com/Learning and enter your Deakin email address (typically username@deakin.edu.au) You will be asked to link your Deakin account to a LinkedIn account. If you've already linked your account, you may simply be asked to use Deakin's SSO services.
