Creating a COVIDSafe Deakin Together
Deakin is committed to maintaining the ongoing safety of our University community. A dedicated Campus Reactivation Group is working to manage and deliver approved on-campus activities, while maintaining the health and wellbeing of our staff, students and visitors.
It is important all visitors are aware of their individual commitment to ensuring Deakin remains a COVIDSafe environment for everyone.
COVIDSafe Training Module
This training module has been developed to provide an overview of how you can contribute to a COVIDSafe campus and what to do in the event of a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.
Visitors are encouraged to complete the training below.
Students can access their own training from the My Learning dashboard in DeakinSync and staff can access the training through the DeakinPeople learning dashboard.
When you visit Deakin, you’ll need to check in online each time you enter a room, café, library, or other facility that is displaying a unique COVIDSafe check in QR code sign at the entrance, if you’re planning to be in the space for 15 minutes or longer.
This attendance recording process is a Victorian Government requirement as part of our COVIDSafe management plan and will help us to quickly contact you if you might be at risk of COVID-19 infection.
Where a unique COVIDSafe check in QR code is displayed, simply scan with your mobile phone camera and complete the details, or you can manually check via https://www.deakin.edu.au/checkin/
Deakin University is collecting your personal information for the primary purpose of you registering your attendance on the campus as a visitor. Deakin will use this information to contact you in the event that we form a reasonable belief that you have been exposed to COVID-19 during your visit. It may also use this information for statistical purposes (such as to calculate the number of people on the campus or on a particular part of the campus at a particular time), and for security purposes. We may release your personal information to the relevant health authorities for contact tracing purposes.
You are not required to register your attendance. However, should you choose not to do so, Deakin or alternatively the health authorities may not be able to trace and contact you in the event that a known exposure to COVID-19 during the period of your visit becomes apparent.
Deakin manages personal information it holds, including requests by individuals for access to their personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).
