For applicants who have not completed senior secondary education (or equivalent) in the last ten years or undertaken any tertiary study (at the point of application), the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) – Multiple Choice can be considered. Applicants are encouraged to submit a Personal Statement and Curriculum Vitae, outlining a history of any relevant work or life experience.

Selection is competitive and meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee selection. Our Admission Criteria and Selection Policy outlines the principles of selection.

Entry for non-school leavers will be based on the followoing.

The Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of a minimum of 4 credit points (equivalent of one trimester/semester of full-time study) successfully completed at an accredited higher education institution. These studies need to be undertaken at a minimum Bachelor degree level (AQF Level 7 or above) and completed within the past 10 years. The current minimum WAM required for entry is 60% or equivalent. Selection is competitive and meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee selection. Our Admission Criteria and Selection Policy outlines the principles of selection.

In lieu of a WAM as described above, entry for non-school leavers will be based on the percentile ranking results of the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) – Multiple Choice. The current minimum STAT (multiple choice) percentile rank required for entry is at least 60. Please note that Deakin will apply a weighting to the raw scores of each component of the STAT to assess if an applicant will meet the threshold levels. Selection is competitive and meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee selection. Our Admission Criteria and Selection Policy outlines the principles of selection.

Applicants who do have a previous WAM can also sit the STAT if they wish, however they cannot have their WAM omitted for 100% STAT result. The STAT result will be given a 50% weighting in circumstances where applicants have an applicable WAM.

Applicants with TAFE or equivalent level qualifications (diploma or associate degree studies) are required to sit the STAT.
