Vice-Chancellor's Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Indigenous Communities through Education

This award will recognise an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student who has demonstrated excellence in and commitment to enhancing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander education through community engagement during their university studies.

This may include involvement in fostering a sense of community, especially amongst Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and/or communities and community organisations, membership of Deakin and/or external committees, such as the Deakin University Student Association or the Institute of Koorie Education, or leadership roles in elected positions within and external to the University.

A prize of $1000 and a framed medal will be awarded to one student annually who has completed their degree in the previous year. The award will also be noted on the recipient’s Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS).

Nominations of eligible Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students from across the University will be sought.

Nominees will receive an invitation and application from the University to apply for the Vice-Chancellor's Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Indigenous Communities through Education. Students will not be able to self-nominate.
