HDR Scholarship - Emeritus Professor Pip Hamilton AM HDR Scholarship

Applications now open. In recognition of Professor Hamilton’s university-wide leadership, this scholarship will be available to support research in any field of study available at Deakin.

Research topic

Emeritus Professor Phillip (Pip) Alexander Hamilton AM led Deakin University’s research endeavors between 1997 and 2006. Following his appointment as Pro Vice-Chancellor Research in 1997, Professor Hamilton AM was appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor Researcher in 2002 and held this position until his retirement in 2006. During that time, Professor Hamilton AM made an immense contribution to research planning that positioned Deakin as one of Australia’s fastest growing research institutions at that time. His influence on Deakin’s research trajectory continues to the present day.

This HDR Scholarship is named in his honour to further recognise the significant influence Professor Hamilton AM had on developing Deakin University’s postgraduate research activities. In recognition of Professor Hamilton’s university-wide leadership, this scholarship will be available to support research in any field of study available at Deakin. Selection will be made on academic merit.

Benefits

This scholarship is available over 3 years.

  • Stipend of $28,600 per annum tax exempt (2021 rate)
  • Relocation allowance of $500-1500 (for single to family) for students moving from interstate

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible you must:

  • be a domestic candidate currently residing in Australia. Domestic includes candidates with Australian Citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency or New Zealand Citizenship.
  • meet Deakin's PhD entry requirements
  • be enrolling full time and hold an honours degree (first class) or an equivalent standard master's degree with a substantial research component.
