Develop a comprehensive view of the historical and contemporary events shaping the Middle East and its place in the international system. You’ll gain clear insights into the region’s political landscape and examine several of its endemic conflict situations.

Get work-ready

Deakin offers the only major in Middle East studies in Australia, so we’re best placed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the events and issues shaping the region. You'll gain in-depth knowledge by exploring topics that include media representation, human rights and humanitarian intervention. You'll also have hands-on experience through innovative assessment practices including one of the world's largest political role-play simulations.
