Navigate your unit

The unit home page is the first screen you will see when you access a unit in DSO.

There are a number of ways to navigate your online unit:

1. Click Course Content in the Course Tools menu, to return to the home page for your unit.
2. Click on the Back button to return to previous page(s).
3. Use the breadcrumb trail to return to a previous page.
4. Click Home to return to your course list.
5. Click Log out to exit.

Note: It is best not to use the Back button on your browser when in DSO.

Access tools and components in your unit

There are a number of ways to access tools and components in your online unit:

1. Open components by clicking on the icons in the course window.
2. Click on any tool in the Course Tools or My Tools menu, listed down the left hand side.
3. Click on the Collapse or Expand icons in the Course Tools menu to show or hide all the tools.
4. Click on Expand Course Content Map and Collapse Course Content Map to view the content headings for the components in the unit.

Useful tips

1. A green asterisk indicates new items have been added for that tool since your last logon.
2. Click on Paging Preferences in the lower right hand side to change your paging options.
3. Click Help to access Blackboard's contextual help. This provides help with features and tools on your current page.
4. Use the toggle to Collapse or Expand the Course Menu - this allows you more space to view content in the unit.
