Bomb threat
The most likely source of a bomb threat is by telephone. Should a threat be received by mail, the procedure is the same as for a telephone threat. The letter however should be isolated and not handled unnecessarily (preferably placed in a plastic sleave/folder), then passed to Police for fingerprinting and forensic examination.
If you receive a bomb threat you should:
- Record as accurately as possible the exact words used by the caller.
- Keep the receiver off the hook to allow tracing (even if the caller hangs up).
- Attract the attention of another person to alert security (Dial 222) of the threat.
- Complete the Bomb threat checklist. (PDF, 68.1KB)
