Professor Pasquale Sgro

Pasquale Sgro joined Deakin University as Foundation Professor in Economics in 1989 from La Trobe University where he was a senior lecturer. He has served as head of school in economics at both La Trobe and Deakin Universities. He is presently Associate Dean Research in the Faculty of Business and Law.

He has written 6 books and over 70 journal articles in international economic, tourism and management journals. He is an Oz reader for ARC discovery and Linkage grants. He has been External Academic Advisor, BBA (Hons), Business Economics, Department of Economics and Finance, City University of Hong Kong, 2002-2011, President Association for Research between Italy and Australia (ARIA-Victoria) 2003-2010. His has also taught in undergraduate specialist economics courses as well as the MBA at Deakin and also taught at the universities of Southampton, Bologna, Florence, Bordeaux and John Hopkins University Bologna centre in Masters and PhD programs.

He is co-editor of “Journal of International Trade and Economic Development” and Associate Editor of a number of international economic and Management journals. Member, Scientific Committees for the European Economic and Finance Society and International Conference on Tourism. Referee for over 20 economic, tourism and management journals. President, Economic Society of Australia Victorian Branch. 2001, Vice-President, Economic Society of Australia Victorian Branch 2002-2004.

He has served on the University Academic Promotion Committee, Research Integrity advisory group, Chair of the university research and research training committee, member of Academic board and Faculty Board, chair of faculty research committee, Chair of staff research development advisory group, member of CSaRO a Strategic research centre of the University. Member and secretary of the CoAsIt board, a not for profit Italian welfare organisation.
