Professor Ruth Rentschler (BA Hons Melb; PhD Monash) is Chair Academic Board, Deakin University and Chair Arts and Entertainment Management, Deakin University. She has expertise on boards in both research and practice. She is on the board of VicHealth, Multicultural Arts Victoria (deputy chair seven years), the Duldig Studio and the Art Gallery of Ballarat. She chairs the VicHealth Human Research Ethics Committee. With 18 years experience in academia, Professor Rentschler has held a range of leadership positions at the University, at School and Faculty levels, directing programs, Schools and Centres. These roles demonstrate her leadership and governance experience, relevant to the position of Chair of Academic Board.
Professor Rentschler has published widely in the management and marketing fields including authored and edited books the Cultural and Entertainment Industries Handbook, Shaping Culture, Innovative Arts Marketing, The Entrepreneurial Arts Leader, Creative Marketing and Museum Marketing. She has published in A-grade journals, secured competitive research grants and has a special interest in diversity, especially as it relates to the arts.
Professor Rentschler was part of the team that obtained a “4” or “above world standards” in ERA round 1 in commercial Services.
