ACADEMIC BOARD ELECTIONS - CHAIR OF THE ACADEMIC BOARD - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

 

The Academic Board is the principal academic authority within the University and is responsible to Council for maintaining highest standards in teaching, assessment and research. The Academic Board provides quality assurance for the academic activities of the University including admission to courses, content of courses, assessment and academic progress, makes recommendations to the Council on the approval of new courses and establishes academic policy.

 

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Nominations are called for election to the casual vacancy position of Chair of the Academic Board, elected by and from the Professors of the University. The call for nominations will open at 9 am on 30 January 2012 and will close at 5 pm on 10 February 2012.

Eligibility

The electorate comprises those members of the Professors of the University whose appointments are both 0.5 fraction or more and of twelve months duration or more.

Term of Office

The term of office will be from the election declaration date to 31 December 2014.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Lodgement

To lodge a nomination, the duly completed form must be received by the Returning Officer - Academic Board Elections, Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance Services, 1 Gheringhap Street, Geelong Waterfront Campus by no later than 5 pm Friday, 10 February 2012. The form may be emailed to elections@deakin.edu.au and the original forwarded on the same day.
Nominations must be made on the prescribed form which must be returned to the Returning Officer.

Personal Details

Nominees must forward with their nomination form a brief (no more than 100 words) personal statement for publication. This should be a factual statement of qualifications and experience relevant to the position. The Returning Officer reserves the right to edit personal statements.

Conduct of Poll

In the event of there being more nominations than there are vacancies, a poll will be conducted electronically. Due notice of the poll will be given. Voting papers and envelopes will not be distributed manually.
