Kim Barbour is mid-way through her PhD candidature in the School of Communication and Creative Arts, studying persona creation by artists in online spaces. In addition she is a Research Assistant for CMII and for the Deakin Motion Capture Lab, and a tutor within the School of Communication and Creative Arts, and has previously filled short term vacancies in other areas, including school administration. Prior to joining Deakin in 2009 as a casual academic, Kim studied for a Masters Degree and a Bachelor of Communication Studies with Honours at Waikato University in New Zealand.
Cathryn is a part time PhD (Creative Writing) candidate, on campus. She has a teaching background, with nine years in the secondary school system, and five years at TAFE. Cathryn began her PhD in August, 2010. She works part time representing an education fund. Cathryn participates in her local community, being a member of a number of clubs. She is also involved in the Deakin community and was recently a volunteer student mentor. She has experience managing the work, study and parenting commitments that many PhD students encounter. Cathryn wishes to represent her peers and engage further in university life.
