About the BIS

The HR Business Internship Scheme (BIS) is an initiative of Deakin University’s Human Resources Services Division (HRSD). The aim of the scheme is to provide final year Deakin students with the opportunity to gain hands on industry experience within an actual HR working environment.

The internship consists of:

  • 12 week placement of 100 hours in total
  • Work on a major research project
  • Participate in a range of operational HR responsibilities
  • Actively participate as part of the HRSD 'team'
  • A formal buddy system to help with the transition into the workforce
  • Opportunity for career planning training
  • 'Catch up days' with other interns
  • Gain experience in an actual HR environment within a specific discipline of HR
  • Earn one credit point towards your studies - enrol in either MMI301/MMI302
HR interns
The BIS is open to final year undergraduate students who are completing studies which they believe could be enhanced by undertaking an Internship in HRSD. Successful applicants must be concurrently enrolled in the Business Internship Program MMI301/MMI302 in the Faculty of Business and Law. Please contact Craig Mc Gowan for more information on enrolment details and eligibility details.
