Mr Andrew Walters CA(A)

Andrew Walters joined Deakin University in the role of Chief Financial Officer in 2006. In this role, Andrew is responsible for the effective management of finance, investments, governance and enterprise projects at Deakin University.

His Portfolio comprises:

•    Financial Services Division
•    Commercial Management Unit
•    Financial Resources Management Unit
•    University Solicitor’s Office
•    Deakin Portfolio Office
•    Governance Unit

Prior to Deakin, Andrew led a team, as Group Finance Director, in restoring profitability and investor confidence at a distressed publicly listed company. He has extensive experience in the mining industry, as Chief Financial Officer of the Botswanan operations of diamond mining company DeBeers.

Andrew holds degrees in commerce and accounting and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. He has extensive experience operating on boards of directors both in an executive and non-executive capacity across a large range of businesses and represents the University in its capacity as a shareholder in a number of associated entities.  Andrew is also the Victorian Vice-Chancellor’s Committee representative for the Defence Reserves Support Council.
