Pay compliance and review
Deakin University is undertaking a pay compliance review to ensure that staff are paid correctly.
Pay compliance
Deakin University is undertaking a pay compliance review. This is part of Deakin’s commitment to ensuring that our staff are paid correctly.
Deakin’s review is centred on pay practices across the University. The review has a number of workstreams that are directed at assessing the various working arrangements of our staff.
Deakin will contact current and former staff who are found to have been impacted by pay compliance issues identified in this review.
If you believe you have not been paid correctly while working at Deakin, you can also email Deakin HELP or phone us on +61 3 5247 9999.
Minimum engagement for casual professional staff
Deakin is reviewing current pay-related clauses in the Enterprise Agreement. To strengthen our pay compliance, we have implemented a system enhancement that ensures compliance with minimum engagement periods for casual professional staff. When timesheets are submitted and approved for payment, a payment adjustment will be made if the hours worked do not comply with the minimum engagement period applicable for the staff member.
Review of sessional academic marking
Deakin has undertaken a comprehensive review process involving surveys of current and former staff, data analysis, review of historical practices, and further enquiries. Our aim has been to identify and address any discrepancies in how marking work was paid, identify impacted staff and quantify any remediation payments to be made, with remediation payments now being issued ahead of the summer break.
If you did not participate in the survey process but believe that you were not paid for all of the hours you were required to work in relation to marking and associated duties since 6 July 2017, or if you have received a remediation payment but this does not cover all the hours you believe you worked, we encourage you to contact Deakin HELP via email or +61 3 5247 9999.
Deakin has provided updates to the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) on the progress of the review, and continues to engage with FWO on this program of work.
Former employees
If you have been contacted by Deakin and asked to provide information to enable Deakin to make a payment to you, please provide those details using the form below.
This form has been established to facilitate the collection of relevant details needed to enable Deakin to process payments to former employees. You will be asked to provide bank account and superannuation fund details as well as supporting documentation to verify your identity. If you would prefer to confirm your details over the phone, please call Deakin HELP on 03 5247 9999 (9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday).
We need to verify your identity to confirm if your contact details and/or bank/superannuation details have changed since you were last employed at Deakin. We will require supporting documentation to confirm payments are made to the correct individual.
If you are not sure if your payment details have changed, please select that your details have changed and upload your verification documents.
Note that this form is only for former employees who have received a specific communication from the University asking them to provide these details for the purpose of Deakin making a payment to them.
If you have not been contacted by Deakin, but want to let us know that you believe you were not paid correctly while working at the University, please do not complete this form. Instead, please email Deakin HELP or phone us on +61 3 5247 9999.
Current staff do not need to complete this form. If you are a current Deakin staff member, please ensure your details are up to date in DeakinPeople.
