Carol Boyer-Spooner

Biography

Carol Boyer-Spooner has extensive experience in R&D and industry innovation in Australia, Asia and Europe.

Her twenty-year career with ICI Paints commenced in Melbourne and culminated in the positions of Chief Operating Officer Asia (1997–99) and Europe (1999–2003). She then moved into positions spanning industry and government, which included academic activity, in the United Kingdom. Carol was Chief Executive Officer and Director of Chemistry Innovation Ltd, and established the Knowledge Centre for Materials Chemistry to optimise the UK's academic capability to meet the needs of industry. She was a founding member of the UK's Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Forum and had a long engagement in industry innovation in England, including mentoring and advising senior innovators in the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI), part of a Catapult Centre.

Carol's other positions have included membership of the Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Advisory Board, the Technical Advisory Board of the Centre for Process Industries and the External Advisory Board, School of Chemistry, Manchester University.

Carol returned to Australia in 2015 and lives on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Carol is a Deputy Chancellor, Chair of the Investment Committee, and a member of the Chancellor's Advisory Committee, Finance and Business Affairs Committee, Honorary Degrees Committee and People and Culture Committee.
