For the sixteenth year in a row, Deakin University has been named first in Victoria for undergraduate Overall Satisfaction.

The results have been released for the national 2025 Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS), which saw Deakin extending its impressive run of high student satisfaction, with 81.6% of undergraduates favourably rating their overall experience at the university.

Deakin achieved strong results across many other measures, including:

  • First in Victoria for overall satisfaction for both undergraduate (81.6%) and postgraduate (82.6%)
  • Second in Victoria for undergraduate overall employment (91.2%) and third for postgraduate overall employment (93.4%)
  • Second in Victoria for undergraduate full-time employment (75.3%) and third for postgraduate full-time employment (86.6%).

'These latest results reflect Deakin’s sustained focus on student learning experience, engagement and outcomes – a student-first priority that has been there since the university’s founding in 1974,' said Deakin’s Caretaker Vice-Chancellor, Professor Matthew Clarke.

'Deakin has continued to be a pioneer in innovative and effective approaches to teaching and learning that set our students up for success. This is not an easy education record to maintain as the world continues to change at pace – with artificial intelligence accelerating that change,' he said.

'We try to educate not only for the world as it is, but for the world as it will be, and I believe our progressive approach is reflected in this latest student feedback.'

The Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) is a government-endorsed survey that measures further study, employment destinations and course satisfaction of recent higher education graduates and is part of the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) survey suite. Graduates are surveyed approximately four to six months after course completion.
